The terms used are based on the elements and it is a departure from the old palmistry and chirology. They are based on the elements which influence us right from the womb to the tomb and into eternity. I have seen the "earth line" (life line) short in many hands and yet they have lived a long life. On the contrary, many persons possessing a long earth line, have died earlier than the measurement of the length of the line stated in many books. From my experience I am sure (and also agree with Jennifer Hirsch) that the earth line does not indicate the length of life. In all cases it show vitality and the constitution of the person. People possessing weak or borken or deformed earth line need to take good care of their health, insofar as nourishement, medication, exercise, etc. are concerned. Since it encircles the Thenar Mount (Mount of Venus) which indicates Vitality, it concerns the Vitality of a person. To go a step further, it has also been observed that when the line of earth hugs towards the thumb and restricts the Thenar Mount, the native has less vitality, is delicate and fragile so far as health is concrned. Such natives have very little desire to enjoy life. The article is a bold exposition of the lacuna that exists in many books so far as modrn interpretation is concerned.
